The estate sale or liquidation process involves estate sale professionals sorting, organizing, researching, pricing, and marketing every item in the estate in order to hold an official sale at the estate for the general public.
While this can vary depending on the needs of the client or size of the estate, 2 weeks is a general estimate. This gives the estate company time to organize the estate and conduct proper research and pricing while allowing the advertisements for the estate sale to reach as many people as possible for the best estate sale day turn-out!
In general, estate sale companies work on commission, so you should never have an out-of-pocket cost when hiring a professional estate sale company. Most professional estate sale companies charge anywhere from 20-50% of the total sales that come from the official estate sale.
Nothing. With a professional estate sale company, all of the labor and stress are taken off your hands! We only request that you do NOT throw anything away. You never know what might catch a shopper's eye so never assume that something is worthless. After the sale, anything left over will be reevaluated for donation or disposal.
Items such as money, important documents, or anything that seems personal or may hold personal value (photos, letters, etc.) will always be set aside for the client to review. Items such as money will be returned to the client (in person or by mail). As part of the sorting and organizing process, we will always keep an eye out for anything a client may not want included in the official estate sale.
Foxglove Estate Sales will handle all items left over after the official estate sale - leaving the estate broom clean and you with nothing to worry about! Leftover items may be sold in bulk when possible, donated, or disposed of. We will organize any donation pick-ups or drop-offs and provide you with the charity receipt.
Yes.
Medicine, alcohol, and tobacco.
Recalled items.
Undergarments.
Ivory items.
During the organizing process, every item is examined, researched, and appraised based on current market values. Our aim is to maximize the profit for our clients while offering a fair price to shoppers.
Estate sales are often emotionally complex, and having a change of mind or heart is understandable. In the case of a cancelled estate sale, a cancellation fee will be applied to cover the cost of labor and advertisements. This fee will be individually assessed for each case.
